I Need Some Advice/Help/Clue to Disable A Network Card

{WARNING: I had a stroke in 2011 and am "brain-damaged"}

{I cannot remember, but I may have asked this in the past}

A few years ago, my network card died. "My" computer-guy added a new network card and everything was 99% OK.

Now, when I screw up my system, I get a netinstall CD and build my system from scratch. Since half of my drives are backups, it's not really a problem, and Debian ALWAYS asks me what of the two network cards do I choose to use.

BUT, when I had attempted to get an install disk of Devuan, it just assumed that the original (dead card) was what it should use.

So....... Question: I need instructions on how to physically take that dead network card entirely off of my system. Can anyone tell me what I need to do, as I am NOT going to go in the computer with a soldering-iron/knife/pointed-stick/whatever to kill this dead network card for good.

Can anyone tell me what to kill this evil dead network card.

{{"My" computer guy is a {shudder} Microsoft guy, and has no idea unless I am willing to pay $150 for him to do it for me}}

Thank you for your time, and have a moderately decent day!
And drink a beer (ale only, though, never a lager)

If this is integrated to the motherboard then your only option is to go into BIO setup and disable it there.

At this stage of install it is kind of hard to blacklist it.

Can you not add "module_blacklist=modname" to the kernel command line at boot?

Yes, good idea. Disabling in BIOS would be better yet - if possible.

OK... seems like good advice. IN THE FUTURE, I will use this when I screw up my system so much I ned to do a reinstall.

Thank you all, and take a shot of whiskey (never a bourbon), and have a good day!

PS: calling this solved

PPS: I have done a hard copy printout of this advice, as usual!
