I need help getting my webcam to work (if possible)

I am running Fedora Core 8 kernel 2.6.25.10-47.fc8.

I own a Logitech QuickCam For Notebooks

I am wondering if there are drivers for this or a way to get it working.

Thanks

That link doesn't load for me, but if it's listed on here then the uvc drivers will work with it:

Quickcam Installation Problem

I have been trying to get my Quickcam Communicate working under Kubuntu 8.10. I had it working in the past under Debian 4.0, but have never been able to get it to work under Kubuntu. I downloaded the driver qc-usb-messenger-1.8.tar and extracted it. When I run the installation script, all the checks are fine until it checks the compiler, then I get the following error message:

gcc version 4.3.2 (Ubuntu 4.3.2-1ubuntu12)
Make version: GNU Make 3.81
Linker version: GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Ubuntu) 2.18.93.20081009
Kernel compiler: gcc version 4.3.2 (Ubuntu 4.3.2-1ubuntu11)
[!] Kernel compiler and gcc seem to be different versions.
Instead, they should be the same. If you have many compilers
installed, you can specify the correct one with command (in bash)
export CC=kgcc
before trying to install the driver. Replace kgcc with the command
required for compiling kernels (kgcc is often used in Red Hat systems).

If I continue the script, everything seems to run fine, it even finds the camera, but, of course, when it comes time to compile the driver, it fails. I notice that the gcc version states it is lubuntu12 and the Kernel compiler is lubuntu11, but I don't know how to correct it.

You need to update your kernel, or downgrade your gcc. You can likely do this with the Ubuntu package manager.

I have looked in both Synaptic and Adept and can't seem to find anywhere to accomplish this. The only alternative to the existing gcc would roll it too far back. I have installed all the updates to the Linux Headers and Image, yet the kernel compiler seems to be stuck where it is.

Fedora Core 8 kernel 2.6.25.10-47.fc8. uses the v4l1
