I need another IDE pci card... anyone suggest one that works with linux (Suse 9.1)?
Anyone know of a IDE pci card that works with linux (specifically SuSe 9.1)
It must be PCI, dual channel, and support ATA/100 (at least) Raid functions aren't necessary; i will be using md and raidutils anyway. How about these? (found on pricewatch) Silcon Image SIL0680 Generic pn-320486 (ITE 8212 chipset) Thank you very much for any help at all! -Jonathan |

Thank you. The two aforementioned cards have debatable linux performance, but they do have drivers available according to a 6 hour google campaign. They have support for redhat 9, and all distro's published in that period (Mandrake 9, SuSe 8.2, etc)
I did find that the Promised Utra ATA/100 has full SuSe support (the in the SuSe HCL, which i didn't know existed) although it's not ata/133, i guess my next hard drives will be serial ATA anyway so ATA/133 expansion room isn't all that important. I can nab the promise controller for $24 off of a site on pricewatch, not a bad deal. I also remember rumors a few months back that the Promise Ultra can be converted to a fasttrack raid controller with a razor blade and two resistors and a reflash of it's bios. Interesting.... Thank you for your guys' help! I let you know how the RAID turns out. I have another thread running in software now about the best way to transfer my existing settings to a newer hardare RAID... PLease stop by and glance at that! |
