I,m having problems with my rj45 port...what just happened?

What just happened?
Iím not longer able to have an internet connection when I connect a network cable into my RG45 port.
I canít remember having recently changed any setting or installed a new program, but in the device manager, when I try to check the functionality, there is a report saying the device doesnít have drivers. If the solution will be to download and install new drivers, I want to know what happened? What could be the cause? And finally, a trusted source where I can download from.
Thank you.

No idea how to help you, since you haven't given us any details whatsoever. Version/distro of Linux? Details about the hardware? How it's connected to the network? Switch/router? ANYTHING????

Could be as simple as a bad cable, bad port on the switch, or you had a power surge that knocked out your network adapter. But with no information, no one here can help you. Look at the output of dmesg for your ethernet adapter, and the output of lspci, and see what it tells you also.
