I keep having emails that I've deleter from inbox sent and trash come back.

I keep having emails that I've deleted from inbox, sent, and trash come back. I do not keep them on server. Does this mean hard drive failure?

It's unlikely to indicate a hardware failure.

Is the email connection POP3 or IMAP? Is the server a public one or a private one (meaning either a personal or company email)?

What email client are you using?

What make/model computer and what distro/version?

Thanx;
Using Gmail through Thunderbird 31. Selected POP in Thunderbird account setup on my personal home~built computer [couple years old] which is Gigabyte A55MDS2=A4-3400=8Gb ddr3-1333mhz.
Linux Mint 17 Mate.
Not sure if I setup gmail to do pop or even if it's possible.

Sorry I forgot to include hard drive in configuration.
What's a mind if it doesn't work all the time?
The Hard drive is a Seagate 1 TB...All parts were sold to me as new.

When you delete from server, did you delete from gmail?
When you setup server, did you set it up to only download new mail.
Like yours my system syncs my mail with gmail, which I need to change to download new, as, emails take up a lot of space especially if you get spam.

I assume the download new mail is a setting in TBird as I can't seem to find it in Gmail nor in TBird. I wouldn't see how it matters if email had been deleted and not kept on server. I'm only able to find "automatically download new messages" in TBird account settings menu.
I'm faithful in removing deleted emails from Thunderbird and Gmail as soon as I no longer need them. Just about every time I check thunderbird for mail (99% of time) if I do not need to keep mail around it is deleted from inbox, sent, and trash before shut down. Then before shut down I visit gmail and delete the same.
Every occurance of an email returning, it had been deleted from all folders at least once and sometimes 2 or 3 times. Hope I didn't get that too kinked for understanding or forget anything.

I've set things to stop the spam in Gmail and auto delete in so many days if I forget to check and do manually.
