I have been researching latly on mounting my cdroms I have two cdrom there are both IDE harddrives, do I need to mount audio or only data cd anyway
here is my infor that i have collected

What is the problem with mounting the CD-ROM?

i am having problem mounting my cdroms, it always giving an error

You can't mount audio CDs. Try mounting a data cd as root. Post your results.

As has already been stated, you don't need to mount audio CD's.

When you say you can't "see the audio CD", what are you trying to do? Play it, copy it, rip a track, etc? I'll assume it's either #2 or #3, and if so, you just need to use a package like grip or xcdroast. What distro are you using? -- J.W.

So if u are saying i don't need to mount a audio cd, then how come i don't see any content in /mnt/cdrom, I just want to copy from my cd to the hard drive some of the songs

so u saying i need a package to perform them, that sucks
it would much simple just copy and past such as cp track1 /home/paxmaster/music

If you want to copy an audio track from a CD, you need to rip it. Common packages to do that are grip and xcdroast. Depending on which distro you are running, these (or other equivalents) may already be installed, and would require no additional work to start using them. If you indicated which distro you are running, that would be useful........... -- J.W.

I don't think any OS lets you do that.

If you simply copied the files from the CD to the HDD, they would be in CDA, which is a very large format. You want to rip them and convert them to MP3.

That's why you need a program to do it for you.
