That sounds like a media or hardware problem, not a distro problem.

Are you sure the DVD copies are good - check them with checksum or boot them in another machine?

Well, if the DVD is OK, then there must be a problem with the drive in the system that won't boot from it.

Have you tried to boot any other DVDs in that drive? If so, have you booted any recordable media in that drive. I have a Toshiba laptop that will read and boot manufactured DVDs, but fails on any type of recordable media.

Umm that's a motherboard, what other hardware do you have? How do you have it set up?

Hi,

what method are you using to burn these ISO files? Are you sure you are writing them as disk images? Eg as described at: http://www.debian.org/CD/faq/#record-windows

Can you clarify what you mean here? Are you saying that you can boot the DVDs (or CDs) that you have burnt on a different machine? Or something else?

Evo2.

How do you have it set up? Your motherboard is UEFI and you can set it up in various ways.

Ok.

Perhaps k3lt01 might be looking in the right direction regarding uefi.

PS. If you use full words and complete sentences you'll get help more quickly.

What versions are you trying? That is pretty new ahrdawre, if you are using old versions they might not work on such new hardware.

Assuming you have currect versions, play with the UEFI/legacy boot settings.

UEFI (BIOS)-> Boot-> UEFI/legacy boot. Try 'Disabled UEFI'.

scratchyrat 08-08-2013 08:35 AM

Have you gone into the BIOS and set the boot order correctly? It should be CD-ROM/DVD Drive first
