Unhappy I cannot finishing installation

Hello

first post for me,

I have an ibook where I would like to install Kubuntu,

everything goes well until the installation stops, the cd stops as well, the cd is good, so everything point to the hard drive which maybe has got some sector damaged.

What i would like to do now is to boot and run Linux from the cd, download from internet a software which manage disks, a sort of scandisk, which scan the disk, isolate the bad sector of the HD and then I can try again to install Kubuntu.

Is it possible?

thank you very much

Gigi

HDD Regenerator 1.21 by Dmitry Primochenko. Though the author says that it doesn't matter what filesystem you have(FAT, NTFS or anaother), I think it works when you have a FAT filesystem. So my recommedation is that you will format all your hard drive to FAT filesystem, run the HDD Regenerator and once repaired, install Linux and format all the drive to ext3 type.

Good Luck

Well drklondon , i dont think the problem is with ur hard drive it may be possible that the CD u r using is corrupt , u can't just say that the CD is ok bcoz it does not have scratch.... it may be possible that the CD is not properly burnt.

My suggestion Use a fresh installation CD.

Are you able to boot with a Linux live CD?
(admitting I'm not sure if it's possible at all on a Mac)
