Unhappy I can't configure my 'Samsung SGH-A701' mobile phone as a modem in fedora 6

I'm new to the forum.I tried to connect my Samsung SGH-A701 mobile phone with datacable in fedora 6 through KPPP.But when I press the button 'Query modem', it doesn't detect any modem and shows the message 'No modem found'.

My desktop pc has the following configuration :
processor-P4 2.4GHz

The mobile has a built in EDGE modem and my operator also supports that.I have used it as a modem in Windows Xp.In Bangladesh I've my operator's APN(=gpinternet) & dial number(*99***1# or *99*1#).

What should I do ?Do I have to configure it manually in KPPP....then how it could be ?Is there any other way?Or it is completely impossible in fedora to do that ?

for any help , thnks in advance.
