I am upgrading my computer soon, and I am worried about compatibility.
I got most of the parts already, but the most significant piece of hardware is an ABit NF7 Motherboard, which has a nForce2 chip in it. Now I am sure the Linux drivers that NVidia provides will work, but what about USB 2.0? I have a USB mouse, and I am worried that a stable kernel (2.4.xx) won't have support for the USB 2.0 ports. Will I have to use a USB -> PS/2 adapter? Or will it work just fine?

usb-ehci, the advanced 2.0 driver works reasonably well with most chipsets, and since the mouse isn't going to be using any of the 2.0 advancements, it'll more or less work in 1.1 mode, I don't see any concerns, but some of the USB 2.0 chipsets out there aren't supported as well as vanilla USB 1.1, it shouldn't really be a concern though... especially between Slackware and Gentoo you know how to keep a kernel bleeding edge.
Cheers,
Finegan
