I'm in winmodem hell (compaq 2100)
I am trying to connect my laptop (Compaq Presario 2100) to the internet. It has an internal winmodem (Conexant 56k ACLink, device ID 10b9:5457). I successfully installed the Smartlink slmodem driver. However, when I try to connect with KPPP, it hangs at "setting speaker volume". It hangs the entire machine, even ctrl-alt-del doesn't work. When I try to query modem with KPPP, it queries the modem successfully. I have tried both kernels 2.6.0 and 2.6.9.
Anyone know what is causing it to hang at "setting speaker volume" and how to resolve this? |
i've never had that problem with the linuxant driver. I've also used an the conexant driver.
