I'll give it a shot... USR/3Com Winmodem


After much searching the net and coming up with nothing useful, I'd decided that it may indeed be possible that there is absolutely no Linux support for my Winmodem.

I have a USR/3Com Winmodem. The result of scanModem is below. If anyone knows how to get this thing working, or if it is definitely not supported, please let me know in this thread.

Hi. The only useful thing I can say is, that with lots of people (in the UK at least) moving to broadband, ebay (in my case .co.uk) seems to be overflowing with modems. I bought a U.S. Robotics/3Com 56K modem for a little over half what the same modem would have cost me in a second hand computer bits store (Computer Exchange).
