HP ScanJet 4750c

Hello. I have an HP ScanJet 4570c attached to my computer through the USB port, and I'm trying to figure out how to get it to work in Linux. I looked at the sane-project website, they have a ScanJet 4C backend. Does that mean it's 4***C backend, or is that some kind of special model? Also, what the heck is this "backend" and how do I use it? I'm running SuSE 10.0 on my desktop computer (look in the signature for the specs).

Thanks. =D
