HP PSC 2110 margin difference
Good afternoon, everyone:
Please help with a problem I've been working on for quite some time. It's in regards to my HP PSC 2110 all-in-one. My Linux brand is Simply Mepis 3.3.2, and the following drivers are installed (through Synaptic): hpijs 2.1.5+0.9.5-4 hplip 0.9.3-3 hplip-base 0.9.3-3 hplip-data 0.9.3-3 I just attempted to install a printer, using Control Center>Peripherals>Printers but didn't see the new hplip driver. After installing hplip just a few minutes ago, I rebooted the machine, then went to the Printer section of Control Center. I installed a printer using the driver I saw in the control center, and everything works. Where is the hplip driver? Why can't I read it when installing a new printer? Secondly, and more importantly, the margins I place in a document when using either OOo 2.0 or StarOffice 8, don't match the printed output. For example, I have a document that is supposed to have 1" margins both left and right. When I print the document, I get 1 3/16" left and 13/16" right. Now, I can get the margins aligned if I go back to each document I've created and play with the margins, but shouldn't a 1" margin print at 1"? I downloaded and installed a couple of files called "alignmargin" and "align.ps", but couldn't make heads or tails out of the instructions. It seems like I wasted about a dozen sheets of paper trying to get the margins straightened out. One more thing, I used to type the following in a terminal to get my printer up and running, but the command won't work now: /usr/sbin/ptal-init setup (or start).  Thanks for any help you can render. I believe hplip is up and running, but I still have no success with the margins issue. Has anyone had any experience with this margins issue?
