hp laserjet 1010 hangs rh9

i am newbee

i have installed rh-9 kernel 2.4.20-8
standard distro

motherboard a7n266-vm ,athlon 2000+,256mb sdram

i have hp laserjet 1010 attached to usb port

whenever i switch this printer on rh-9 hang

if i forget to switch off printer during boot, rh hangs during boot

if i run printer conf. tool the printer is not detected

if i switch on the printer for rescan, guss what rh9 hang

please help
