HP laser jet install
 

Im using

:HP Laser jet 6310 connected to home network (via ethernet)
:Fedora 9

The printer I installed was working fine, until for other reasons I reinstalled the OS.
After the install I downloaded and installed all the software and security updates.
When I went to add the printer the interface had changed (printer configuration - local host-now)which virtually gives no way to add the printer - very little options just a search option which does'nt work - troubleshooting tools dont work-it seems pretty useless compared to the add printers wizard when I previously installed.


ran yum install for cups - cups is installed

when trying to add printer with this little interface - it searches to find nothing-

Did the new updates change printer configuration?
Is there a way I can install from command line?
Or has the the printer configuration tools changed?

Try "localhost: 631" in your browser to get to the CUPS interface; have (if possible) a PPD file for your printer ready somewhere - with that, the installation procedure indicated is a breeze. If this doesn't show anything, CUPS is most probably not running.
