First some facts regarding my system: Slackware 13.0, hplip-3.10.2, cups-1.3.11, ASUS-notebook-X5DIJ, HP-Deskjet-F2480.

I have a pdf-file where i want to print a certain page. I tried different pdf-viewers like xpdf, okular,... Here is my result:

On the left you see what my evil printer does while printing. It generates some tourqoise squares and stuff. On the right you see the original from the pdf-file.
Interesting that when printing without color - everything is fine! Is this an error in the pdf-file or can i fix this problem somehow? Cups-test-page looks fine - even in color.

I'm afraid to print it to test it out cuz it looks like it will waste ink (lots of it), but I remember I've had many problems printing pdfs in the past, where the images would come out negative (inverted colors) or completely blacked out. It seems to be an issue only when printing pdfs, so converting it to another format, then printing it, should work. I usually convert to djvu, but you can also just convert to an image format and print it if it's only one page.

Indeed it seems that there is something wrong with the PDF-file. I converted this one page with
and printed the pasted image without problems.
Cool that there is a workaround but anyway: it bothers me not to be able to print any PDF directly.

Unfortunately I don't know the cause, and it doesn't happen for all pdfs, just some, and it's kinda rare. I know this has happened with my HP printers, but I don't have other printers to test.
