|
What's wrong? Is your printer seen by any application?
|
i get no error message not the printer prints anything. thank u for ur interest
|
Is it visible in the configuration program?
Look into /var/log/messages and search for info/errors/messages about printer and send it there. |
i looked into the /var/log/messages and so such strings have seen. my configuration programs works well and when i type "hpijs -h" it produce the information of hewlet-paccard co and when type "gs -h" it show hpdj 8xx printer.
thanks for your time. |
Well, you are running Redhat, so go to the Printer Configuration program. Remove whatever you have, and then try the procedure to install a new printer...Now...by default Redhat doesn't come for a driver for the 845c, I just looked. So, if you said that you installed the driver, I'm assuming that it shows up in the Printer configuration program. Just delect that, and then try and print a test page. Hopefully it'll work. ;)

i tried as you told. but the problem remains same. can u suggest me any driver for my hp deskjet845c printer.
thanks for ur time |
Look at www.linuxprintiong.org for info and hpinkjet.sourceforge.net for driver.
|
i had visited linuxprinting.com earlier and it suggested me to dowload and install hpijs driver. i did so. but i can't print anything.
thank you for your time |
Right, sorry. I didn't read the whole thread...
First check if the driver is correctly installed: hpijs -h It should print nice text. Then test Ghostscript gs -h|grep ijs It should be( note: in my mdk 7.2 it's not available, I don't know which RH you're using). If not, you need to upgrade your Ghostscript software (6.53 is needed). |
i really appreciate your interest. i checked hpijs -h and gs -h and it produce the desired result.
|
Do you have CUPS or other printing system installed?
|
i don't have any of the programs you mentoned. nor i have no idea about them.
thank you |
CUPS should be available on your installation cds...
|
i don't have cups installed on my system
("rpm -qa |grep cups" return nothing) thanks again |
