Exclamation HP Deskjet 5600

Hi

I have a HP deskjet 5600 and i managed to install it and get it to print. However, as it is connected through a parallel connection, it did not get automatically detected. Therefore I cannot use hp-toolkit to see ink-levels, etc. I also do not kno the printer's IP.

My question is how do I get the hp software to detect it so I can use the HP software?

When connected to the parallel port there is no IP. And IP if talking about networking would be if the printer is connected directly to the network.

Which driver package you using? The HPLIP, HPIJS, or HPOJ

Might contact the developer of the software to see if the ink levels can be seen with a parallel connection. Or check the FAQ or docs on the software.

The HPIJS is the driver only. HPLIP is the driver plus Gui tools.

lnxmomo,
Go to the HP Linux site, HP Linux Inkjet Driver Project and get the latest HPLIP driver for your printer. Also look your printer up in the table of printers to see what tools and features are offered for your printer.

hey,

Thx guys but its not what i am looking for. My printer is not supported using a parallel but it is supported using a usb connection. Unfortunatly, i dont have a usb connection. So what i really want is that hp software detects my printer and not just linux so i can use the hp toolkit.

Contact the developers on your model and the way you have it setup. Maybe they can help.
