HP Deskjet 2720 scanner not working
Hello
I have a HP Deskjet 2720 installed to my laptop (HP). The former printer, a HP Deskjet 3733 (broke down) was replaced by this new one. Result: no way to get XSane working, luckily I got the printer working through localhost 631. The computer fails to find easyscan. Lsusb tells me that a Hewlett Packard is connected. Is there perhaps a way to use another driver instead of HP Deskjet 2700 series? A solution, anyone?

Forgot to mention: The laptop has Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.3 installed.

teboil12,
I have always found that the hplip walkthrough works:
https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-i.../install/index
You could also try installing simple-scan:
Code:
sudo apt install simple-scan

I've already been through those steps numerous times, no use. When trying to scan through Hplip it tells me that Driver Plug-in is required. It also gives me the lie that I have chosen to skip the Plug-in installation or entered the incorrect password. Both are lies.
When running Hp-plugin from the terminal the Plug-in Installation keeps searching "for ever" without any result.
Xsane cannot find any scanner, simple-scan cannot either. I guess I'll have to live with this.
Thanks anyway...

I already have HPLIP version 3.20.11 installed. Printer working, scanner nada. I think I'll have to start using VueScan though I hate it!

Tried to install Driver Plug-in through the terminal again. Failed, I got the message that I don't have Python gobject/dbus installed. I'm not very good at this, can someone show me step by step how to install it?

The plugin for the scanner is here
Also, if you are using xsane there is (on fedora at least) a package libsane-hpaio needed.
