Unhappy HP Designjet 500 + HPGL2 not working after debian etch upgrade

My HP Designjet 500 + HPGL2 plotter doesn't print any more.

This happened (coincidence ?) after an upgrade from debian sarge to debian etch.

The Cups web interface says : "Printer not connected; will retry in 30 seconds..."

I installed Cups 1.3.2 (testing branch) instead of 1.2.7 (stable branch) : it did not help but prevented cups from detecting the printer (which he did before).

PPD is : HP DesignJet 500 Foomatic/chp2200 (recommended)
Device_URI is : usb:/dev/usb/lp0

Any help welcomed !
