HP Compaq 8000 Elite BIOS hidden settings

I happened to run dmidecode on it and noticed L1 cache is disabled, there is no visible option in BIOS to enable it. I wonder if there are hidden options which could be used to enable L1 cache. Or maybe flash in similar BIOS which has this option. I don't have to use their utility, flashrom will flash in anything. Or maybe Coreboot? Need to investigate ...

All thoughts and hints are welcome!

Not sure how much I'd trust dmicode on the reply.

However, anytime you try to mess with this critical component you run a risk.

HP does some odd stuff. They seem to lock some things for unknown reasons. Now they won't even offer bios updates unless you pay.

Coreboot is a thread by itself.

Thanks, I was thinking more about some "secret" key combination to make hidden options visible in BIOS setup, some manufacturers have such key combinations. Your response adds a new angle, modifying settings from OS.
