Hp all in one printer/scanner Will not scan - Ubuntu - Edgy.

I have an hp psc 1215 all in one scanner running Ubuntu Edgy.

With some screaming and moaning I managed to get this thing printing via CUPS and also installed the HPLIP tools from HP.

However, I cannot get the damn thing to scan. I have tried Xsane and Kooka which both say that there is no scanner installed. Xsane also says that the "Device is Busy".

Can anyone help me. I have tried numerous searches, run hp-toolbox app and

Can any one help?

Thank You.

In synaptic type sane and see what comes up as installed.Look for libsane and libsane-extras, if you are using kde (kooka) look for libkscan1 and the libgimp package .I have a hp 1510 printer/scanner running on debian etch and it works like a charm.

I tried this and downloaded the packages in question. When running xsane, things proceeded further than they use to and the application did actually start.

However, when I selected the scanner to use, it gave the same error....

Despite this, when I ran Synaptec, I also thought what the hell and grabbed hpoj...

This worked a treat and the scanner now works ...

Thank you very much for your help
