Unhappy HP 820c printing trouble

I recently upgraded from Mandrake 8.1 to 9.0 and now have a problem printing with my HP Deskjet 820c printer. It worked fine under 8.1 but when I cleanly installed 9.0, the printer prints only the first three or four lines of a page then hangs. This occurs in any program, even when trying to print a test page from printerdrake. Interestingly, upon a reboot, when cups starts, it trys again to complete the job but still the same, prints a couple of lines then hangs. I can see the jobs in cue. The port is set to ECP in the bios. I tried switching to PDQ printing with the same result. The machine is dual boot with Windows ME and the printer works perfectly in windows. Printerdrake detects the printer and sets it up with no errors. I just can't figure this out. Any help would be great!

I've tried that several times. I've removed the printer and then added it, tried other drivers from the same printer family, etc. Since it's a "winprinter" it uses "ghostscript" as a filter.

The only other thing I can think of is having a poke around on the mandrake user forum to see if anyone else is having problems.
