does this hp model supported by linux? im using fedora core1 ... i asked this question becuase if i will do 'cdrecord -scanbus' it cant detect the writer ...

If you are still trying to get this to work I have some answers.
Sorry I just found this forum in search of an issue of my own.

I had this CDRW drive a while ago. I had it working under Red Hat 6.x and 7.x
So it does work.
What you need to do is configure to enable scsi emulation for it.
You will need to recompile your kernel to get it to be seen as a CDRW drive and not just a CD drive.
