HP 6840 Gutenprint drivers? Enlightenment Sought
Greetings to All,
I am a recent convert to Linux from Windows and I am, for the most part, really enjoying myself. I have all of my applications humming along just fine, but I have some questions about printer drivers. I am using the CUPS system with very few problems. While searching for information on printer drivers, I came across the Gutenprint drivers and installed them with no problem. The thing is that I don't see them in the driver choices for my printer. I went to the CUPS website and installed another instance of my HP6840, but there were no Gutenprint specific drivers listed for my printer ,but there were some listed for other HP printers. The recommended driver for my printer is foomatic hpijs. Other drivers I can select are generic ps, lpr, etc., but none with "gutenprint" in the name. I wish to have the best quality printer driver that I can obtain. I am a little confused, but I understand that there are several ways to skin this cat; I just want to skin it correctly. I am not dissatisfied with my printed output at all. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks so much.
All the Best,
John K. Emmons
