HP 1020 doesn't work on Debian Unstable

I've got a big problem with HP LaserJet 1020. I installed cupsys,
foomatic-db and foo2zjs driver from foo2zjs.rkkda.com. Than I
added the printer to cups using the web interface. Although everything
seems to be all right, the printer does not print anything. Printing
jobs are marked as being aborted. Some information:
Code:
$ dmesg | grep usblp0
drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 4 if 0
alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x2B17
drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: failed reading printer status

$ usb_printerid /dev/usb/lp0
MFG:Hewlett-Packard;MDL:HP LaserJet 1020;CMD:ACL;CLS:PRINTER;DES:HP
LaserJet 1020;FWVER:20041129;
The printer works correctly on MS WinXP.

How to make my printer work properly?

The title of your message reads you are using the unstable version of debian. That version isn't supposed to work. That is why they call it unstable. You can make reports to debian.org, but you need the name of the package that isn't working properly. It sounds like cups. If debian unstable doesn't work just try the stable or testing versions.

No, I like my Unstable version . If there is no solution of this problem I will wait for next cups.

Is possible that the problem indeed is the CUPS, so, you could try to get another cups from another system (not Debian necessary) then, use the diff command to know what are the differences between them just to put your CUPS get working

I had that problem ones, I just put a CUPS from another system (Mandriva) and work again :-D

Reegards

How did you convert Mandriva package to Debian format?
