"howto hot-swap an ide-raid-disk with promise fasttrak tx2000pro"
Hello,
I was able to convert a running 1-disk linux-system (krnl 2.4.10-4GB) to an
hardware-raid1-system with a promise-fasttrak-controller with
two 80GB-IDE-drives in superswap1000-boxes.
I see the two IDE-drives as one scsi-drive from which the
system is booting and running.
So far so good.......
To test the raid I removed one harddrive while the system was running.
I got the correct message in the syslog and the file
/proc/scsi/FastTrak/0 changed, now saying that the
raid-status is critical.
Re-inserting the disk didn't change anything!
From now on the sytem was running in "degraded mode".
After a reboot the fasttrak-bios came up asking what to
do, because 1 disk is removed.
So I inserted the disk back to the array and rebuilt the array.
After that the system was ok.
So the question is:
What do to, to make the system "see" the insertion of the replaced disk
an rebuild the array automatically?
Thanks a lot for your help
