why do you need to disable it? normally it comes as a kernel module that loads when needed. if you really want to remove it, get your hands on the kernel source, remove ipv6 under networking and build.

apparently if I remove the IPv6 module, my internet will be able to function again and I will not have anymore "connection has been refused attempting to contact 172.16.0.1 which I need to in order to set up my 2wire modem
