Hi farzadfedora, Welcome to LQ. Please post the output from the following.

Code:
$ cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec
Good luck. ;-)

A quick test would to see whether you can record something in Audacity or a similar application. If you can record, that narrows the issue to getting the input into Skype.

You might also check your mixer settings if you haven't already done so.

I'm not familiar enough with Kubuntu to know exactly what audio (pulse, alsa, a combination) controls they use.

In SystemSettings - Multimedia go thru all the places and select the correct input

See if you have Xine or Gstreamer installed (or install them : phonon-xine phonon-gstreamer you can install both) and select it in Backend. I go with Xine

In Kmix (the volume control) settings enable all channels that have something to do with the mic and set their volume high. You should be able to hear in the speakers when you knock on the mic or speak to it

Audacity may not detect the mic if you dont select the corrct input there. It may not record due to its own problems and not KDEs

Check alsamixer>>preferences>>capture raise levels or mark box. The box under capture may be listed as record.
Hope that helps.
