how to use my data cartridge tape in redhat6.2?


I use redhat6.2 sparc linux in my sun storage a1000 server , there is a data cartridge tape in the server ,now I want to use the tape ,but I don't know what command shall I use , I used the command
mt -f /dev/rmt/0 status but the server told me "no such device"

what command shall I use ? thanks for your help.
