Unhappy how to use modem


Hope you will help me.I tried to use internet through modem.Its working fine in Windows-XP.But I tried it in Mandriva-2006.
I really don't know how to start.I tried something and found nothing helpful. .My modem is "AC97 Data Fax SoftModem with SmartCP" .In Mandriva contol center I found information about this as follows.

I also tried KPPP .But it is telling me that "THE DEVICE IS BUSY".
Please help me.I am being vexed with LINUX .If this continue I may
leave it.

I think it would be easier to get an external hardware modem which you know is supported. I don't think you know enough to do the work to install and configure the modems to convert this software modem into a useable linmodem.
