How to use Bluetooth Manager with authorisation pin?
I have a Nokia n80 mobile phone. My Sabayon Linux install can see it perfectly but 99% of the time with bluetooth devices, you have to connect with an authorisation code or password between devices. How do I use this? I can see the device as:
sdp://nokia n80/ I can even select 'OBEX File Transfer' (Hopefully to browse the phone and copy files back and forth). However, I cannot get as far as copying files back and forth like I can with the rather crummy Nokia PC Suite software. I guess I need a code? I am very new to Bluetooth in Linux and can see it works, I just don't know how to use it! Please advise. Thanks. |
If you installed (equiv of) bluez-utils packages you'll have some conf files in /etc/bluetooth. You need to configure the hcid.conf and rfcomm.conf, then echo the PIN code into /etc/bluetooth/pin.

Thanks for your input. I'll check I have bluez Utils installed and try that way. I'll post my findings here too.

Hi
I have Nokia N80i and I use Linux Mint which is based on Ubuntu (uses all the Ubuntu repositories). At first I had trouble with Bluetooth, then I did a search in Synaptic.... "blue" and installed all of the possible bluetooth programs and it is working very nicely now. It asks for a pin but I have left the original pin "1234" and I just answer with that pin every time it asks. Good luck |
