how to unload gnome-volume-control


hi all,
i have problem with my soundcard. i rectified it by updating alsa driver. everything is working fine but can't get sound.

i have installed the alsamixer,but unable to unload gnome-volume-control. how can i do this?

i have configuration

os RHEL4(kernel 2.6.9)
soundcard Sigmatel
