how to test modem?


Hi,
I want to know how can i test modem? Suppose i got inbuilt modem and driver for it and i installed it. now how can i test it provided i have no dialup connection from any ISP but i have landline phone?

If you have a friend with a computer, I think they can set there modem to answer the phone and you can just dial their machine.

For that matter, you should be able to just have it dial your friends house. They'll pick up the phone and it should be a bunch of gibberish computer noise...
