Can you read/write data without encountering errors? If Yes, your drive is OK; if not, your drive has problems.

That said, if your drive is making a lot of noise (eg, loud clicks) that's a key sign that your drive is having mechanical difficulties, and usually that means that the drive will fail soon afterwards
