Exclamation How to take drivers from ubuntu cd.

Hi,
I needed to install slax in a Dell insperon 1525. But I was not able to get the wireless driver for it. Lo and Behold, wireless works perfectly well if i boot this laptop with ubuntu 9.04 live cd. Is there any way to get the drivers in the ubuntu live cd so that I can recombile it into slax? I searched in ubuntu site, but I couldn't find it.
Thanking you in advance,
-
Joe

Wireless drivers

The way I understand it, the wireless drivers are usually in the kernel. What you want is not the drivers themselves, but the firmware. You should be able to find the firmware in /lib/firmware and copy them.
That's the best I can do for you at this time, best of luck.

I had the same problem when I switched from Ubuntu to install Fedora once. I use a Toshiba satellite. I went to Toshiba's website contacted their support personnel and they emailed a .tar.gz file containing all of their Linux drivers. I had to do some hand compiling but with some form help I got it done. Dell's support is excellent. They may do the same if you contact them from their website. If you've never compiled kernel modules, You can make a new post here and we'll help you. The good news that Slax ships with a full compliment of compilation commands.
