Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

How to stop automount

Hi,

I'm running Kubuntu 5.10 on my Averatec 3715-EH1 laptop. I want to be able to charge my iPod via USB without automounting it every time. How do I turn off the automount feature, preferably for just that device?

Thanks,

--C

Take a look at /etc/auto.master, find the line that's for automounting usb devices and comment it out. Of course this will prevent automounting of all usb devices, not he specific one.

See if there's an entry for it in /etc/fstab. If there is, add the "noauto" option to it's line.
