how to shop for a web server ...any guidelines?

hi all. any guidelines/rules of thumb/what to look for on buying a web server to replace the old one that we are now using?

OK, here's my partic. situation...running RHEL4, so I get the list from Red Hat of certified servers. MY institution believes in all things Dell, so I am looking at the Dell servers. Enterprise/E-commerce site. Low traffic now, but we are hoping for it to scale up as we hope to get the site busier. Gotta run Cold Fusion and some mod_programs on it. I'm not sure what else, but probably some other stuff too. As lean and mean as we (I) want it to be, I know that soon others will want to put other stuff on it, so...

thanks! B
