How to reset "users" screen settings through root-Fedora29

Hi all. I have a Fedora 29 based machine which I built in 2018. I don't use it very often as it is connected to a wide screen monitor which gives me neck ache! and I have another much older machine which I prefer. The other day I thought I would try changing the screen format (1920x1080) to something more like the old 4:3 versions. Unfortunately the Monitor rejected this and put up a error message on a black screen.I am now unable to switch it back. I can still get into a "root" screen and I suspect it may be possible to modify the "user" setting from there. Can anyone give me some hints as to how. Where are users settings stored for example?

Machine is using KDE Has Ryzen5 on Asus "Prime X470 -Pro" M/Board and Asus "Strix RX570" video card. Monitor is LG IPS225VX

How did you try it? Via xrandr? What is the output of xrandr now?

What is a "root" screen, and how do you get there?

While logged out of Plasma, removing ~/.local/share/kscreen/ should re-enable default screen settings.

Hi Shruggy, thanks for your reply . Running xrandr gives following:-
Screen 0: minimum 16x16, current 1920x1080, maximum 32767x32767 XWAYLAND0 connected 1920x1980+0+09 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 510mmx290mm 1920xx1080 59.96*+

This is while running as "root"

Monitor message in Small square box is "out of Range"

"root" is the administrator. I cannot run xrandr as an unprivaleged "user" as I cannot see the screen

   640x480 75.00 72.81 66.67 59.94
   720x400 70.08
HDMI-2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
You can see how this works by quoting this message, and/or visiting the indicated URL.

As xrandr output is always more than one line, you seem to have only pasted the first.

You may be able to avoid the black screen as normal user simply by selecting at the login screen to run Plasma as an Xorg session instead of using Wayland.
