I am a newbie in the field of Linux. I want to remove the sound card which is PCI card and plug linksys WMP55AG wireless pci card, because I don't have enough PCI slots.

First question, how should I manully remove the configuration for the sound card. If I don't do this, I am afraid that there may be some conflicts between the new card and the remvoed card such as IRQ, and there may be some errors information in the booting.

Second question, I know that madWIFI is the right driver for WMP55AG. Does anybody has the experience to install this card?

If you know the solutions, please tell me in detail. Thanks very much

type 'chkconfig kudzu on'

shutdown the computer.

uninstall the sound card and install the WiFi card.

start the computer and boot into linux.

kudzu should ask you if you want to remove the configuration for the sound card, say remove configuration.

then kudzu should ask you if you want to configure the WiFi card.

I think Fedora has kudzu.

Fedora has kudzu and it can work. But I still can find some entry about sound card in the /etc/modules file. Do I need to remove it manully? Thank you very much.
