How to plug in a Internal HD?

I have rescued a HD from a computer and i want to connect it in my machine so i can and have extra storage space. i connected it before but got directed to bios settings. I think there is the need to set a jumper at some point? My old IBM HD has a lot of different jumper possibilities in the back, of which i know nothing...

my HD specs:

IBM Deskstar 50 GB (current windows/suse)
WD 80 GB (future storage)

thanks in advance for any help!

regards,
Jamasoo

Get the model number off the drive and go to the Western Digital website. Unless the drive is really old, they should have support information showing the jumper settings. You probably need to set it as slave (if it is an IDE drive on the same cable as your other drive)

By the stage they got to 80 Gig, the standard had developed that all jumpers off was slave. It's easy to check what it's seen as - unplug the other one.
