Question how to overcome grub problems in RHEL4


hello friends
Recently i have encountered a problem that i have installed rhel4 and windows as dual boot
the grub is the default boot loader
after grub i am able to choose other operating system
this was working fine if i want to use windows i used to use up or down arrow
one day when i boot
it has shown grub
i have given boot
the error i got was the no kernel is loaded
then i gave
chain loader +1
no such commands present this is the error i got

i cant even get into windows as grub is default boot loader
so i have installed Ubuntu and now i am able to get into windows
so please tell more about grub and how to work on such situations
