How to monitor SMART of RAID hard drives?

Hello!
I have HP server and I created logical volumes over RAID controlle's hard drive.
But it's impossible to get smart status of hard drives:

Depends on the type of hardware. Please could you tell us the name/model of your server and raid controller.

Often generic devices are created too. Something like this might work:

# smartctl -d sat --all /dev/sg3

The numbers to use depend on the hardware.
