How to monitor and analysis hard drive errors?

Hello,

Suppose your hard drive is not working properly and you're facing so many problems with it you can use smartd command to monitor and analyze your hard drive.

However, if you have set an email address into the configuration file of the smartd command, when any error occurs or detects it will directly send an email to your configured email address.

There are so many advantages of this command. For more details, kindly refer to the following URL:

Thanks,
Pratik

Sounds good for servers. (No real need here but) for me (Debian testing) it says "Currently only for gtk." and it or smartctl don't show in cli and\or with sudo? All I can find not closely related is apticron...

Hey jamison20000e,

I have used this command with following versions, it works fine:
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin)
Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal)

I don't know why you are facing problems with this but in this command there is no need to install package because it comes with the installation. In addition to this, your provided option is also working fine. I have tested your provided command at my friend's villa, it probably works fine.

Regards,
Pratik
