how to make usb thumb drive bootable with Redhat enterprise linux 3
 
hi all

i have an 128 MB USB thumbdrive, which i want to use to make it bootable so that i can install linux (RHEL 3 64bit) on to the system using nfs.
how to make usb thumbdrive bootable ie the image of 1'st Redhat cd should be available on usb thumbdrive which can used to boot and install linux through nfs

i found boot.iso and isolinux directory on 1'st cd of rhel 3 64bit cd, but how to transfer the images or make usb thumb drive using these files.

i did dd if=/mnt/cdrom/images/boot.iso of=/dev/sdc
but it did not work .

please guide me

Your ability to boot from a USB device depends on your BIOS. As long as the USB device is shown as an option in your BIOS boot sequence, move it up to the top of the list and your system will attempt to boot from it before any other device. If the USB option is not shown in your BIOS boot sequence, realistically you are out of luck. Good luck with it
