how to install Ati x1950 driver inFedora 8??

I just installled Fedora 8 .
I want to ask how can i install the driver for my x1950 pro ati.
i hav tried the latest ati-driver-installer-8.43.3-x86.x86_64.run from ati.com. But it dont work at all.
I even cannot start the Catalyst Center!!

And I tried kmod-fglrx too. It dont work too.

So far, I still cannot use Desktop-effects. Is it because the display card hav not yet been installed?

Had anyone succeeded in installing driver for it? Please tell me.
Is it only the problem in Fedora 8? Is it work in fedora 7?

The newest has just been released a few days ago:

http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/l...ux-radeon.html

Do not be confused by the version number as AMD/ATI has changed the version numbering scheme, Catalyst 7.12 is newer then the older 8.43.3 installer:

The ATI driver is installed and working, the Display settings should also show that you are in fact running with this driver. Clicking on the Hardware Tab--> Video card Configure button you should see something like:

fglrx - Vendor-supplied driver for fglrx cards

As for desktop-effects see: http://www.howtoforge.com/compiz-fus...ty-radeon-9200
