How to enable ATI Radeon 9600Pro (fglrx) TV-out fb?
Hi
I'm running Ubuntu 5.04 with an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro with TV-out. I've installed the fglrx ati-drivers and using some device options in my xorg.conf, I can clone my desktop to my tv. However, since my monitor is an LCD (DVI) I need to run at 1280x1024 and my TV can only display 1024x768, and I see a piece of my desktop that scrolls around with my mouse.
After some careful Googling, I've come across some posts that mention using a "fb" (framebuffer?) with xine to display just the video on the TV. Can anyone tell me how to do so? Suggest a better way?
I don't think that U could handle 2 different screens size using clone mode.
I think U need to have 2 different screen sections and define a screen layout where you set the properties of your TV screen appropriately (1024x768 from what U say).
Then U will refer to the first screen as DISPLAY=:0 and the second as DISPLAY=:1.
Thus you will be able to control where your apps will show.
In the layout section you can say how the screens relates to each others.
For example
Screen "Screen1" RightOf "Screen0"
Dunno if this is really needed/useful with TVOUT though.
This worked fine with 2 reals screens but since my TV SVideo is broken I never managed to get it work for TV correctly :'(
