Arrow How to Do Linux in a Boot-Rom?

Hi there,

I want to biult a fast-booting Linux, I heard the easiest way is to put it in a Boot-Rom. Up to 256 MB should be possilbe. But does anybody know how to make it work? Get it in the Rom? And how the Rom should ne connected to the Embedded-PC? IDE? Replacing the Bios-Rom?

Thx for answering,

Tom

Without to change too much on a usual PC, how about a IDE to CompactFlash Adapter, and install the System (at least /boot) on it and all other changing data (e.g. /tmp on the harddisk/ramdisk) ?
But remember, Flash can be written 100'000 times, so if a Program/Deamon write continuous to it, it's shortly dead.

I already have a compact-flashcard, it takes much to long for booting. That's why the boot-rom-solution is prefered, but I've no idea how to realize it...

greetz,

tom
