how to disable old module loading...

hi all,

i've a little issue about modules loading, i try to explain:

I've just installed a new Gentoo Linux distribution downloaded from Gentoo site. It provide a kernel 2.4.20-gentoo-r6.
After the first compiling of the kernel by the nice "genkernel" tool everithing was working pretty fine. My network card RTL8139 10MBit was correctly detected at boot time.

Yesterdey i've replaced this old 10mbit network board with a new one, alwais Realtek 8139 but 10/100Mbit. Drivers are different. (previous 8139cp.o, new 8139too.o

Now when i boot i get several error messages as
init_module: insmod: failed to load module /lib/modules/2.4.20-gentoo-r6/kernel/drivers/net/8139cp.o

But the network card eth0 is still working,
the driver now used (probably autodetected) seems to be 8139too.o

But i just would like to avoid all the error message about old driver loading.

Any help is very appreciated.
Infinite thanks B7

Check your start up scripts for where modules get loaded. If you use /etc/modules.conf or equiv., check it for duplicate lines that saying "alias eth0 <modulename>" and comment out the old one. If there's none, try making it read "alias eth0 8139too".
